So, results day was on Thursday and loads of people are disappointed . It is only the first AS modules though, so people still have time to turn things around.
I was actually pleased with my results as I got three A's and a B, the B was in further maths. I am a bit disappointed with my further maths result as I know I didn't work hard enough for that exam but there's always the summer exams. I'm mainly happy that I don't need to worry about resits.
In other news, it was my friend's sister's birthday the other day and she looked so cute in a pink frilly tutu and wellies (she's two and loves her wellies).
Friday was general R.E. day at school (for anyone who doesn't know, R.E stands for religious education) and we had to watch dancin' man. It was a gangster film but everyone found it confusing and few people could properly understand the strong Scottish accents. The rest of the day involved analysing the characters and themes in the film, it was kind of boring and a bit of a waste of time to be honest.
I really need to find some more work experience/volunteering quickly. I'm thinking about asking around at local care homes and medical surgeries but I might not have much hope. Ah well, still worth a try.
As part of my volunteering, every two weeks I help out at a kind of computer club for people with learning difficulties. They basically come to the site and can do whatever they want on the computer (eg do a puzzle or crossword, make a card or letter using Microsoft office etc) and just chat. Unfortunately the printer wasn't working this week and the Internet was a bit slow.
From this, I have learnt that it can be difficult to communicate with people at times and ways to overcome this is speaking more clearly in a way that is simple to understand and if someone still doesn't know what you're on about, you put it in a different way that still gets the same meaning across. Another thing it taught me is that people sometimes just want to talk to someone who'll listen to them and take an interest in what they're saying and this can improve a person's mood significantly. Also, you need to be patient with people or else you may upset or anger someone. I like to think of myself as a patient person and I am genuinely interested in what people have to say, no matter how insignificant.
